Hallelujah, I got a job!

Hola! I GOT A JOB!!! Finally! It's not career oriented, but it is at least something to hold me over and bring in some income while I keep searching for what it is I really want to do. Starting Tuesday evening I will be the newest server at Rivertown Bistro in historic Conway. I feel like so much of my life is centered around Myrtle Beach, that I forget not only how pretty downtown Conway is, but how much it reminds me of downtown Athens. This restaurant is so unique from the food to the decor and I'm so excited to start working there. The owners are so nice, and the menu reminds me a lot of Tommy Bahama's. Not because of similar items, but because everything is made from scratch and there's a range of different items that you wouldn't find in your typical Myrtle Beach area restaurant. On another note, I leave for Memphis tomorrow and I am so excited. Chris and I are headed there to run in a 5k supporting his cousin Jessie. I met Jessie about two years ago when she came to visit in Myrtle Beach. We spent some time together, and she is really such a great person. A little over a year ago she was involved in a horrible car accident leaving her paralyzed and in a now semi-conscious state. She's been making progress over the last year but there is still a long way to go. While I am excited to see her and let her know how much everyone loves her and is behind her, I'm also nervous about my reaction and Chris's reaction to seeing her for the first time. It's so crazy to think that a year ago she was living the life of a normal 23 year old, and now her life has flipped upside down for no reason.  Visit 5k4Jessie.com for more info and if you're feeling super generous even donate to help her and her family out!

Weekend Festivities

I'm still not really sure which direction I want to take this whole blog in, but for now I'm just going to continue writing whatever I can come up with in order to get in the habit of writing often, if not every day. While I know many people may not be interested in what I did this weekend, it still gives me an opportunity to work on my writing!

This weekend was semi-eventful. On Friday, I went to Oktoberfest in Market Common. One of the perks of being back in Myrtle Beach is that there's never a shortage of festivals or events to attend. It's nice because I don't end up at the same places doing the same things every weekend. I met up with a few friends, had some festive beers and then walked over to one of the bars that we frequent for cheaper drinks. Quite a few people were there so it ended up being a really fun time hanging out and talking to everyone!

On Saturday, I spent the day doing absolutely nothing. Like seriously, nothing. Some days I enjoy it, others it drives me crazy, but this time it was kind of nice. The only problem with it is that I end up sitting and eating all day which is awful, but I suppose it's ok to treat myself once in a while.

Sunday my best friend Chris and I went to his friend Jerrme's house to watch football. I made a dip that I found on Pinterest and it ended up being a huge hit (or maybe they were just being nice!).  Here's a link to the recipe I used. I did substitute the low fat cream cheese for regular though because I read on a review that the low fat gave it a chalky taste and I didn't want to risk it. It ended up being a fun and relaxing day!

So that was my relatively uneventful weekend, but I definitely enjoyed it and that's all that matters. I am looking forward to this week because I actually have quite a bit going on which will be nice and give me a lot of different topics to blog about. One thing I'm going to really try to keep up with starting today is the FMS Photo a Day project from Instagram. Here's a list of the challenges for October!
